Studio Ident Design
Here is the design we eventually chose as our final ident.
In order to create this ident I took our company name, WhiteVirginMedia, & created an image based upon these words. The word "white" is represented through the girl's pale, Caucasian skin & white t-shirt. This is also represented by the girl drinking a cup of coffee, as the modern day stereotype for Caucasian female teenagers/young adults (AKA, white girls) spend a lot of time at Starbucks. The mug itself is even a reference to this stereotype as it says "Starbutts" on it, though this is not entirely visible in the digitally rendered image. The word "virgin" is represented by her sexual purity, which is shown by the fact that she has a chain around her waist, with a padlock covering her vaginal area.
To create this image I drew a quick rough draft in pencil in order to get a rough idea as to what the final image would look like. I then drew a more detailed image in pencil, which would later serve as the final ident. I then went over the pencil with fine liner, defining the definite lines, after which I used a rubber to erase the left over pencil lines. At this point I would usually use a scanner to scan the image & transfer it onto a computer, but due to limited resources at the time I merely took a photograph of the image on my phone. I then connected my phone to a computer via a USB lead, & transferred the image across. After this, I opened the file in Photoshop. On Photoshop I deleted the white paper of the image, & used various gradients to digitally colour the image. I then digitally added some text to the image via photoshop.
